Registration of adoption

Required documents

• Joint application of the adoptive parents or an application from one of them;
• Identity documents of the adoptive parents;
• Court decision on adoption that has entered into legal force;
• Birth certificate of the adopted child.  

Note

In cases where the mentioned documents are issued by the official authorities of the relevant foreign country, they must be submitted either with a certificate (apostille) attached to the official documents, or legalized, and in both cases translated into Azerbaijani with the translation duly notarized.

List of persons required to be present:

1. Adoptive father or mother;
2. Authorized representatives acting under a notarially certified power of attorney.

State fee

Registration of adoption and issuing primary certificates about adoption are free of charge.
