Nicu Popescu: Political relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan are developing at a high level

On 9 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Nicu Popescu.

During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted with satisfaction the development of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova, stressed the importance of further expanding cooperation in many areas.

Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Moldovan colleague about the post-conflict situation in the region, the implementation of the tripartite declarations and the steps taken by Azerbaijan in this regard, the delimitation process, as well as reconstruction and reconstruction works in the territories liberated from occupation.

Nicu Popescu spoke with satisfaction about the development of bilateral relations. He stressed that political relations between the two countries are developing at a high level, Moldova has always supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. He hoped that the current visit would give an impetus to the development and deepening of ties.

The parties had a wide-ranging exchange of views on infrastructure reconstruction projects in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, in particular the importance of rapid demining of the territories and the problems of involving Moldovan experts in this process.

The parties exchanged views on the use of the existing potential for the development of bilateral relations in trade, economic, energy, humanitarian, cultural and other areas. The meeting also noted the importance of paying special attention to economic relations, in this context, the importance of the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova was stressed.

The parties also exchanged views on the successful cooperation between the two countries on multilateral platforms (UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, BSEC, GUAM and the Eastern Partnership initiative) and continued their mutual support in international organizations.

The parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest.

At the end of the meeting, ministers held a joint press conference.
