The 4th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova was held in Baku

The 4th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova was held in Baku.

Prior to the opening of the joint session, a meeting was held between a delegation headed by Inam Karimov, co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission, and a delegation headed by Andrei Spînu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development and Infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova. The meeting emphasized the dynamic development of relations between Moldova and Azerbaijan in all sectors of the economy, including the agricultural sector, and involved a broad discussion of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Then the 4th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Moldova began its work.

In his opening speech, Co-Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Inam Karimov informed of reforms implemented in Moldova to diversify the economy. Noting a favorable and beneficial business climate in our country, the Minister urged Moldovan businessmen to assess investment opportunities in Azerbaijan: "Considering our economic potential, we must seek to diversify our trade relations and increase trade turnover. From this point of view, joint business forums, including mutual participation in international exhibitions will strengthen cooperation between our business circles. Azerbaijan has become one of the reliable transport and logistics centers in the Eurasian region. Sea ports, railway connections, airports and highways, modern transport infrastructure give us great advantages for strengthening effective trade relations".

Co-Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Andrei Spînu said that our countries are friendly and expressed interest in the development of partnerships in all spheres. It was noted that there is a great potential for expansion of partnership in the economic and agricultural spheres. It was noted that the transfer of modern technologies in agriculture, joint scientific research, training of specialists in agricultural sphere and export of agricultural products can be a major direction of cooperation in the field of agriculture between Azerbaijan and Moldova.

Then, the participants discussed the state of implementation of decisions taken at the 3rd meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova joint inter-governmental commission held on April 26, 2012, and emphasized the important work done in this field.

At the end of the event, a Protocol on results of the 4th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was signed. The document envisages expansion of cooperation between the two countries in trade and economic, energy, agriculture, construction, science and technology and humanitarian, labor and social areas, as well as in regional development, food security, tourism, customs, transport and ICT.
