Victory Day and the State Flag Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan were solemnly celebrated in Chisinau

On November 6, 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Moldova hosted a solemn event dedicated to November 8 - Victory Day in the Patriotic War of 2020, as well as November 9 - the State Flag Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was attended by former Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Mr. Chiril Gaburici, high-ranking representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and other ministries and departments, heads and staff of diplomatic missions, public figures and representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora.

In his solemn address to the guests, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Ulvi Bakhshaliyev noted that the great Victory won under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev was inscribed in Azerbaijani’s history in golden letters. Also, the Ambassador emphasized that the 44-day Patriotic War will forever remain a glorious stage in the history of Azerbaijan. The Ambassador further informed the audience about the peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, large-scale construction and reconstruction works in the liberated territories. Referring to the National State Flag Day, Ambassador Ulvi Bakhshaliyev spoke of the complicated stages of history related to the state flag, the contribution of Heydar Aliyev, the National Leader of Azerbaijani people, to the reinstatement of the state flag in 1990 after 70 years of Soviet power in Azerbaijan, as well as the Decree of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev of November 17, 2009 to celebrate the State Flag Day on November 9.

In his speech, the Ambassador also informed the audience about one of the most major and important events of this year - the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change COP-29, which Azerbaijan is going to host next week. It was noted that more than 80 heads of state and government are expected to attend the COP-29, the significant amount of work done by the Government of Azerbaijan, the country's contribution to the fight against climate change. 

Then the guests were invited to watch a short video dedicated to Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day war.

During the event, the guests were able to familiarize themselves with dishes of the national cuisine of Azerbaijan as dolma, plov, and such sweets as baklava, sheker-bura.

The event aroused high interest in the Moldovan society.
